WEB DEVELOPMENT / NICKE STUDIO GUIDES

AI web development: Next.js or WordPress for your project

How to choose between a CMS and a custom application when integrating AI, forms, content and automation.

Choose around the people using the site

WordPress can suit teams that publish frequently and want a familiar editorial interface. A custom application can fit specific business logic, private areas or workflows that require a tailored interface.

Revenue alone does not determine the right technology. Define who edits, who maintains the site and which features you need today, then assess future integrations.

Separate AI-assisted development from AI features

AI can support the development process or become a product feature, such as document search, inquiry classification or an assistant. These are different decisions and should be scoped separately.

A model-connected assistant needs server-side access controls, usage limits and cost management. Private API keys must not be exposed in the browser. Define what happens when the provider is unavailable.

Compare the complete cost

Include development, hosting, maintenance, extensions, models and future changes. Both CMS sites and custom applications can need continuing support.

Test the main journeys: publishing content, submitting a form and receiving the inquiry in the CRM. A useful architecture is one your team can operate and maintain confidently.
